This internationally accredited one-day course teaches participants to be part of a team at a major incident site focusing on the medical management aspects. The course is assessed using practical skills testing. If you are successful, the MIMMS Team Provider certification is valid for four years.
SUITABLE PARTICIPANTS:
Open to all registered medical practitioners, registered nurses, paramedics and ambulance officers, defence health personnel, NT Fire Service and emergency first responders.
COURSE OJECTIVES:
- Understanding the organisations, structures and roles in managing major incidents and how they work together
- Able to prepare for and implement a structured approach when responding to major incidents (CSCATTT)
- Able to deliver the medical support needed at major incidents, through triage, treatment and transport
COURSE CONTENT:
Lectures, workshops and skill stations include:
- Command and control
- Communications - practical use of radios
- Triage (sieve and sort), treatment and transport
- Disaster medical equipment and resources
- Table top exercises
