CANCELLED - MAJOR INCIDENT MEDICAL MANAGEMENT SUPPORT (MIMMS) ADVANCED COURSE

This course runs over three consecutive days. It is an accredited course with Advanced Life Support Group (UK) and is widely accepted internationally. MIMMS teaches a systematic and practical approach to field medical management at disasters, which can be applied at any major incident.

The content includes command and control, safety, communication, assessment, triage, treatment and transport in disaster management.

The emphasis is on scene management and pre-hospital care delivered through:

  • Structured lectures
  • Table-top exercises
  • Practical exercises in radio communication and casualty triage
  • Workshops
  • Field exercises for command training

Pre-requisite Training:

NSW Health Emergency Management Arrangements (41971847), Introduction to Health Emergency Management & Emergency Planning (13376664) and Mass Casualty Triage ( 122605241) via My health Learning.

Qualification Valid for:

The MIMMS Advanced Course qualification is valid for 4 years after which time participants complete the MIMMS Team Members Course (1 day) to recertify

Who should attend:

This course is particularly relevant for those individuals likely to take a command or team leader role in a pre-hospital environment during a mass casualty event, including medical, nursing, ambulance, mental and public health workers.
